According to Starlink’s own specifications page, the V5 kit ships with a separate Router Mini (not built into the dish itself), and Starlink’s support documentation notes it is “not intended for in-motion use” — the same restriction that applies to the standard residential dish. It’s built for fixed installs: home rooftops, cabins, and similar stationary setups.

Battery Math: Why Mini Still Wins for Off-Grid Power
V5’s 35-50W average draw is lower than the outgoing V4, but it’s still meaningfully higher than the Mini’s 20-40W range, and V5 isn’t built to clip onto a portable battery the way Mini is. That’s the real reason V5 doesn’t replace Mini for off-grid use: even before battery mounting and portability come into play, Mini simply sips less power per hour.
